The team at Tarmac’s Aberthaw cement plant has joined forces to give a goodwill boost to several seasonal charities.
Following a collection on site, five big boxes of chocolate, advent calendars and other festive goods were delivered to the Foodbank base where volunteers will now add them to the Christmas food parcels being sent to local families in need.
In addition to the Foodbank donation, four team members have just spent November avoiding shaving and raised an incredible £724 for Movember; and the site is also supporting the Save the Children Christmas jumper day.
Production manager Nicola Bartholomey has also been overwhelmed with donations to her Christmas ‘Giving Tree’ which will make a big difference to many young children this festive season. The Giving Tree is a campaign run by charity KidsOut to help bring fun and happiness to children in refuge across the UK this Christmas.
Aberthaw Plant manager Stuart Escott says: “It’s great to see the site team always enthusiastic about getting behind good causes. From a personal point of view, it was a pleasure to be able to deliver such a substantial collection to the Vale Foodbank.”
Becky Morgan, one of the Vale Foodbank managers adds: “We are so grateful for the very generous support from Tarmac. We realise it has been a very difficult year for many people and to be able to bless people in need at this time of year with Christmas treats is heartwarming. It is through donations like these that we can help people in financial crises.”
