Tarmac has appointed a new plant manager to drive its operations in Aberthaw.
Graeme Bride has joined the business as Cement Plant Manager, Aberthaw – South Wales’ only cement plant. He will be responsible for managing operations at the site in a safe and environmentally friendly manner, whilst maintaining and benefiting the company’s community activity.
Graeme, 46 and originally from Manchester, graduated as a mechanical engineer from the University of Birmingham and has an MBA from Manchester Business School. He has over 24 years of operational experience gained in the cement, sugar and power generation industries across Europe, Asia and Africa.
His most recent role was Health and Safety Director in Lafarge Africa. Graeme has 19 years cement plant management experience from his time spent working in Nigeria and the Philippines.

“As a plant, delivering products across the UK, we have a huge opportunity to produce volumes to meet market needs, whilst delivering these safely and meeting all environmental controls.
“I am looking forward to working across departments to ensure we continue to drive performance to meet market challenges whilst enhancing our activity within the local community.”
Graeme began his career in 2000 working for Blue Circle in the Philippines. He is married and has two children.
Graeme takes over from Chris Bradbury who has been appointed Cement Plant Manager of Tarmac’s Tunstead operations.
Aberthaw Cement Plant is the only cement works in South Wales. Cement made at Aberthaw has contributed to some of Wales’ most significant construction projects of recent time, including Pembroke Power Station, The Millennium Centre and home of the Welsh Government – The Senedd, both in Cardiff Bay.
